At worship services, we have monthly ‘Minute-for-Mission’ announcements about various worthwhile community organizations and a ‘Change-Can-Make-a-Change’ collection to be distributed to that organization.
Some people living in our area do not have medical insurance. To address this need, The Greater Bluffton Jasper County Volunteers in Medicine opened its doors in 2011. Today the all-volunteer medical clinic provides medical exams, counseling and nutritional services as well as preventative disease education to over 2,000 eligible uninsured residents. In addition, radiological imaging and lab testing referrals are made for patients needing these services. It takes approximately 75 volunteers to make the day to day operations of the clinic possible. These volunteers include retired physicians, retired nurses and office personnel.
Without primary care for underlying illnesses such as diabetes and hypertension, people of all color are especially vulnerable to challenges like COVID-19.
BJVIM earned a 2020 Gold Rating from the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics Quality Standards Program.
If you would like to help with their efforts, please donate by writing a check to LPC and indicate CCMAC-August in the memo section. Other donations they need include office supplies, copy paper, paper towels, soap and gas cards and can be dropped off at their locations in Bluffton and Ridgeland Monday through Thursday after 1:00 p.m. Thanks!
